Happy New Year 2018

Happy New Year 2018

I trust you all had a fabulous Christmas and enjoyed the New Year celebrations. If you’re like me you probably can’t wait to take all the decorations down and get back to normal now it’s all but over. That brings with it a yearly discussion about when to take them down with many people saying not until the 6th of January on Epiphany, also known as Little Christmas, whereas I was always brought up to believe they had to be down by the 6th and it was bad luck to leave them up after midnight on the 5th. Whichever camp you belong to you’ll most likely have all your festive trimming cleared by the end of this week if you’ve not done so already.

I don’t tend to make resolutions but I do have intentions, not that I stick to those often either! I intend to be much better at blogging, I’m also trying to get Elfie to do some guest posts for us so fingers crossed she’ll agree. If there are things you like to see us blog about then please comment below. Would you like to hear news, see projects, gets hints and tips or all of these. All craft related suggestions would be most welcome and help us to write what you want to read.

Last year I decided to separate our website into 2 parts making a supplies website and a handmade website instead of having them altogether in the one. We started by upgrading our website platform and that has proved to be a positive thing. Thanks to our lovely customers the supplies website has gone from strength to strength and after a few tweaks along the way we, and more importantly you, are really happy with it. Thanks so much for all the feedback we’ve received it really helps us to know what we’re doing right and anything we’re doing wrong.

The next step is to upgrade the handmade site to the same standard as the supplies one and whilst we will continue to take commissions for greeting cards, wedding invitations and stationery and jewellery, we plan to have ready made pieces available to order similar to what we already sell at our craft and gift fairs. There will be a separate newsletter sign up for this site as we don’t want to send people emails regarding handmade products when they are only interested in supplies. We will of course keep you updated with our progress.

Don’t forget you can sign up for our newsletter, follow us on Facebook, join our customer group and follow us on Twitter  to keep up with all the latest news, special offers and new products.

Until next time, happy crafting,

Trish x

  1. I don’t make resolutions either as I never stick to them! But I hope to make those Blog posts a reality 🙂
We take our decs down tomorrow (6th Jan), usually hate doing it but I want to have a tidy up of my crafting space and I can’t do that till the tree is gone, so I’m actually looking forward to taking it down this year.
Here’s to an elfciting New Year here at Downland Crafts.
