Hi again Downland Crafters,
It brings me great joy to introduce you to “Throne” and “King for a day”. I used two stamp sets in this card as it was the obvious thing to do. (Ok, maybe it’s just me!).
First, I very carefully took my fine detail scissors and performed some stamp surgery on the “King for a Day” stamp set to seperate the words and detach the sword. Then, when I stamped them all out individually I resumed breathing as I had not damaged them.
Next, I stamped 9 swords onto some masking paper along with the “Throne” and fussy cut them out. This technique was going to involve quite a bit of masking.
I stamped the nice comfy red armchair onto a layering piece of cardstock (Neenah 80lb Cover) with some Memento tuxedo black ink, and covered the image with my mask. Then I took the sword and stamped hilt side up starting at the 12 o’clock position. Then I covered that image with a mask. Stamped either side twice ensuring it did not touch and covered each one with a mask so I could stamp the remaining 4 swords in the background. I turned the stamp around and stamped the opposite direction making the sword point up in all the inbetween spaces. Finally, the fun part, pulling off all the masking paper to reveal the layered image.
I used Copic markers W2, W4, W6, T2, T4, T6, C2, C4, C6 for the swords, R14, R27, R46, R59, E35, E23, E37 and E27 for the armchair and BG10 and C2 for the background.
Lastly I heat embossed the “King for a Day” sentiment in silver on some back cardstock and mounted the whole thing on a 4.25″ x 5.5″ top folding card base made from some 216gsm (110lb) Neenah Solar White cardstock.
